La Gran Señorita Nuria: A Winemaker Is Born
The art and science of winemaking runs deep in Nuria Solazabal Dueñas’ blood.
Hailing from the Rioja region of Spain, which is famous for its great wines, Nuria was raised on a wine estate. In 2005, she got her masters in Viticulture and Enology, and shortly thereafter, she joined WFE as a trainee at V. Sattui Winery.
Nuria began her internship at V. Sattui Winery during crush season where her responsibilities included barreling, lab work, additions to wines, and chemistry-related tasks. She enjoyed her Worldwide Farmers Exchange experience and felt the skills that she learned would prove useful in her winemaking career.
More About V. Sattui Winery
Founded in 1885 by Italian immigrant and pioneer vintner Vittorio Sattui, V. Sattui Winery is located in the heart of California’s Napa Valley and has been delighting consumers with award-winning wines for more than 125 years. The family-owned company’s winemaking philosophy is simple: “great wine is made in the vineyard.” With that idea in mind, V. Sattui’s approach to wine making centers on optimizing the intensity of flavor and varietal characteristics of its grapes. In the winery, the company combines traditional winemaking methods with technologically advanced winemaking equipment and techniques.
